Legacy Soccer

New for the 2026–27 Season

In alignment with U.S. Youth Soccer and WYSA, Legacy Sports Soccer will return to seasonal-year age group placement beginning with the 2026–27 season.

All players must register and attend tryouts within their designated seasonal-year age group.

Placement decisions for players seeking to play up an age group will be reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional readiness, based on:

  • On-field performance
  • Physical development
  • Long-term player development considerations
  • Current coach recommendations

This approach ensures roster decisions are fair, consistent, and focused on what is best for each athlete’s growth and development.

Playing Up an Age Group

Players interested in trying out for an older age group must receive prior approval.

  • Requests must be submitted by June 1
  • Players must be registered for tryouts to be considered
  • Families will be notified once a decision has been made

LEGACY SELECT SOCCER

Select Soccer is Legacy’s highest level of competitive play, designed for players who demonstrate strong ability, commitment, and a desire to develop at a higher level of the game.

Select teams compete in more competitive leagues and tournaments while continuing to emphasize technical development, teamwork, and a love for the game. Legacy’s philosophy focuses on developing players both on and off the field, helping them grow as athletes, teammates, and individuals.

Core Expectations for Players

Commitment to Attendance

Players are expected to attend 2–3 training sessions per week along with all scheduled games and tournaments.

Consistent attendance is critical at the Select level, as practices build tactical understanding, team chemistry, and individual skill development.

Players should communicate with their coach if they will miss a training session or game.

Competitive Seasonal Structure

Select teams compete in Fall and Spring league seasons, typically playing 8–10 league matches per season.

Teams will also participate in multiple tournaments throughout the year, which may include both local and travel events.

Training schedules, game times, and tournament details are set by the coach and communicated to families well in advance.

High Effort & Development Mindset

Select players are expected to train with focus, effort, and a willingness to improve.

Training sessions emphasize:

  • Advanced ball control and technical skills

  • Tactical understanding of the game

  • Speed of play and decision making

  • Team systems and positional responsibilities

While competition increases at this level, player development remains the priority.

Communication & Team Organization

Select teams rely on clear communication between coaches, players, and families.

Families are expected to:

  • Respond promptly to scheduling messages

  • Update availability in team communication apps

  • Stay informed about team events and expectations

Strong communication helps the team plan effectively for practices, games, and tournaments.

Respect, Sportsmanship & Team Culture

Legacy Select players represent the club on and off the field.

Players are expected to show respect for teammates, coaches, referees, opponents, and the game itself.

A positive team culture built on hard work, accountability, and sportsmanship helps every player succeed and enjoy the experience.
